Known best as the second oldest capital city, second to Sydney and for the finish line in Australia's most famous boat race, Hobart is also rich in history and incredibly cosmopolitan, which you will discover when you fly in and then check in to your accommodation, The MACq01 Hotel.
Located on the North Eastern side of the Hobart Waterfront is luxurious and perfectly positioned. A 5-minute drive from the city centre and famous Salamanca Square which is where you should plan on spending today.. For dinner, why not try out the Aloft Restaurant on the waterfront which showcases Tasmania produce from oysters to mussels and pork belly. Prepare to roll home.
From one great location to another. Today you grab a car and hit the road for the unmissable Lake St Clair - which means sleeping water. On the way you must stop at The Agrarian Kitchen, frequently voted the best restaurant in Tasmania. Don't go past the daily wood roast which comes with a fleet of condiments.
Tonight you are staying at Pumphouse Point, which is just breathtaking. Check into your room, or for a more private stay, try out The Retreat. We’d recommend a two night stay, so that you can experience the great nature walks, a bike ride around the area, or have a lazy day fishing.
Today is all yours.
Spend the day experiencing the local area, before heading back to the Shorehouse for a shared dinner with other guests, or back to your room for a private dinner from your personal larder.
Today, you’ll check out of Pumphouse Point for your trip up to Quamby Estate, near Launceston. Your drive takes you past the Great Lake and Liffey Forest Reserve, make sure to stop off at the Green Door Restaurant in Westbury for a coffee and a light lunch.
Quamby Estate is a great spot for a night or two with something for everyone, a quaint B&B with a challenging 9 hole course, hiking and in house movies. There is also a restaurant on site but if you are feeling adventurous, head into Launceston and try Stillwater or Grain of the Silos.
Today, a trip out to the Tamar Valley just north of Launceston is just what you’ll need.
Sample the local wines, experience the local cuisine which is sourced locally, or head out into the valley for a walk or a swim at Greens Beach.
On the way back, stop off at whichever restaurant you didn’t go to the night before!
Check out of Quamby Estate and drive across to Launceston Airport for your afternoon flight back home.
