The Whitsundays are made up of 74 Island Wonders, on the beautiful tropical coast of Queensland, Australia. Right in the Heart of the Great Barrier Reef, a visit to the Whitsundays is a feast for the senses. The stunning natural landscapes of coast and islands are dotted with secluded beaches and friendly towns. Whether you choose to base yourself on the coast or on the islands, there's so much to do, you'll have to work out how to fit it all in!
Whitehaven Beach - no visit to The Whitsundays would be complete without visiting Whitehaven Beach. Consistently voted to be one of the world’s finest beaches, the soft, cool white sandy beach hugged by sparkling turquoise waters is something that has to be seen to be believed. The beach is easily accessible from either the mainland or Hamilton Island by catamaran.
Heart Reef - Heart Reef is a stunning natural composition of coral in the perfect shape of a heart. Visitors are not allowed to snorkel or dive around the reef, in an effort to preserve it’s natural beauty, but you’re able to take flights out over the reef. We recommend a helicopter ride as a way to completely experience it!
Bareboating - For those a bit more adventurous! You’ll hire out a fully equipped sailing boat, and will be able to explore the Whitsunday Islands at your own pace. The boats are fully equipped with modern amenities, luxurious cabins and navigational guide books - all you need to bring is your food! What better way to see the islands!
Qualia is situated on the secluded northernmost tip of Hamilton Island surrounded by all the splendour of the Great Barrier Reef and is exclusively for guests aged 16 or over. Your stay at Qualia includes VIP transport from the airport or marina, usage of a VIP driver throughout your stay (or your own golf buggy if you prefer to drive yourself), or you can simply just settle into your suite.
Qualia features sixty individual pavilions all of which boast stunning postcard views either of the Whitsundays or the spectacular tropical bushland. We recommend the Windward Pavilion - shaded by Eucalypt trees, offering spectacular views of the Coral Sea, each features its own private sundeck and infinity plunge pool!
Qualia offers two world-class restaurants on site, the upmarket Long Pavilion featuring a Modern Australian menu sourced from local produce, or the more casual (but still fine dining) Pebble Beach Restaurant, offering contemporary Australian cuisine with an Asian twist.
As the most secluded resort in the Whitsundays, Elysian Eco Retreat is a soulfully crafted oasis ecologically designed to inspire a serene sojourn. Located in Paradise Bay on the Southern tip of Long Island, Elysian is all about getting off the grid and truly relaxing. There is limited mobile coverage, with only Telstra providing reception, and limited Wi-Fi in the resort. Elysian also imposes a 20 guest limit, so that you can feel like the island is there for your own exclusive use. Take part in the daily Yoga classes or head out into your own portion of the Barrier Reef for snorkeling, kayaking and much more!
Elysian offers two types of private villa, located at the north and south of the resort. All bookings come with all-inclusive meals and non-alcoholic beverages, as well as usage of the resort activities. We recommend the North Villas as they are a bit larger, and provide a rear enclosed deck with rainforest views, outdoor shower and day bed.
Elysian’s restaurant makes each meal it’s own event, with extensive gourmet breakfasts, al fresco lunch at the Pavilion, picnic lunches for those who’d like to get out instead, and exciting 3 course dinners sourced from local ingredients. If you’re lucky enough to catch a fish, the chefs will even prepare that for you!
The Beach Club
Situated right on Catseye Beach, this adults only tranquil boutique resort is right in the middle of the action on Hamilton Island, while still being able to feel secluded. The Beach Club specialises in making you feel a million miles away, but you’re still within walking distance of everything you need. Kick back in a hammock on the private beach, laze around in a deck chair on the resort lawns, or indulge in a cocktail in the private lounge - the choice is yours!
At The Beach Club each room is 40SQM, with uninterrupted views over Catseye Beach and the Coral Sea, as well as direct access to the beach. Each booking includes A la Carte Breakfast, return airport transfers, use of a VIP chauffeur service, and use of resort facilities such as kayaks, windsurfers and much more. The Beach Club restaurant doesn’t skimp on the views - you’ll have the same uninterrupted views as you can expect from your room.
The restaurant specialises in Modern Australian cuisine sourced from local produce, with wines picked to complement the menu. Before dinner, why not stop off at the Lounge for a pre-dinner drink by the sea.
