Explore - The Southern Highlands

The Southern Highlands is located around 2 hours drive south of Sydney, and it’s easy to fall in love with the region due to the lasting impression of the diverse scenery and many charming towns. Known for its cool temperate climate, there’s so much to see and do in the Southern Highlands, from exploring the National Parks and waterfalls, through to the boutique wineries scattered across the region.

The hike out to the Fairy Bower Falls is a must-do while in the region. The walk is a one hour loop graded as medium, and it can be a bit steep in parts, but the walk is definitely worth it! Once you’ve reached the bottom, you’ll be rewarded with lush green expanses and amazing waterfalls. For something a little more relaxing, The Berrima River Walk is a much easier grade, starting out at the historic Berrima Gaol and visits a WW1 German Internment camp, and takes around 90 minutes to complete.
It’s a shame to visit a wine region without having some local wines, right? There are a plethora of companies operating winery tours in the area, and we recommend The Grape Escape, who operate group trips visiting 3-4 wineries or can also tailor make an experience just for you.
